Reconciling Life’s Mistakes

What we carry. What we release.

01 / THE IDEA

What we carry. What we release.

This started with something simple: the way old choices can keep living in your head long after the moment itself is gone.

The film is about regret, memory, and the distance between who we were when we made a decision and who we are when we finally look back at it clearly.

I didn’t want to explain the emotion to death. I wanted the viewer to feel it first, then recognize something of their own inside it.

02 / CREATIVE DIRECTION

Let the pauses matter.

Animation gave me the right amount of distance.

It let the story stay emotional without becoming too literal or sentimental. Expression, pacing, color, silence, movement, and visual metaphor could carry things that dialogue would have made too obvious.

The goal was restraint. Let the imagery do some of the work. Let the pauses matter. Let the viewer fill in part of the story.

03 / MY ROLE

The choices
behind the piece.

I developed the concept, emotional arc, visual direction, and overall tone of the piece.

I created and curated the original AI-generated visual material, shaped the sequence, selected the moments that supported the story, and edited the final film into a cohesive narrative.

The AI tools were part of the production process. The story, judgment, selection, sequencing, and creative direction were mine.

04 / WORKFLOW

From the idea
to the edit.

I started with the emotional premise and worked backward from what the film needed to make the viewer feel. From there, I developed visual directions and generated imagery that could carry the story without relying on dialogue. I tested scenes, expressions, framing, and visual styles, then curated down to the material that felt emotionally true. The final story was really built in the edit.

05 / WHAT I EXPLORED

How little do you actually need to say for someone to understand the feeling?

This piece became an experiment in emotional restraint. I wanted to see whether image, timing, atmosphere, and silence could carry a difficult subject without turning it into a speech.

Not everything gets fixed. Not every choice disappears. Sometimes peace is simply being able to look back without needing to fight the past anymore.
